Solidarity Transport Hub Poland

In general

Solidarity transport hub is planned megaproject of the Government of Poland located in central Poland between Warsaw and Łódź. The plans contain airport, the city near airport, road and railway infrastructure. On the beginning the airport will be able to service 45 milion passengers per year and in the longer run even 100 million passengers per year.

Airport component

On the beginning the airport will have two runways with the possibility of expanding up to four runways. In August 2019 took place the architectional workshops during which initial visualizations were presented.
I am enclosing some visualization for you:

Concept by Foster + Partners.
Concept by Zaha Hadid Architects.
Concept by Chapman Taylor.

Railway component

Railway component assumes building of 1600 km of new railway and modernization of railways already existing. Details of this project was introduced in April 29, 2019 by Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki. The project assumes that the transfer time between STH and Warsaw will reach 15 minutes and between Łódź and STH  35 minutes. It is established also building high speed railway system.
Map of planning railways connections.

Conclusion

I think that building STH is a big chance for Poland to have new and modern transportation system. It is assumed that transfer time between major polish cities and STH will be a total of no more than 2,5 hours. The airport is expected to be ready in 2027. The new airport will be a hub for LOT Polish Airlines and will replace Waraw Chopin Airport. In the end I'm attaching some films (unfortunatelly in polish).
